Objective: To investigate the use and value of intraoperative ultrasound guidance inintracranial glioma resectionMaterials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of33patientswith intracranial glioma who used ultrasound to guide surgical margins and comparedthose of39patients without ultrasound guidance. The probe was placed on theepidural, subdural surface and brain tissue surface to explore the tumors and theresected tumor cavity was explored, to locate the tumor and determine the location, borders, peripheral blood vessels, etc., help the surgeon to select the best approach sothat maximum tumor resection was achieved with minimal damage. We statisticallyanalyzed and compared the positioning accuracy, curative resection rate and operativetime between intraoperative ultrasound group and non-intraoperative ultrasoundgroup. Results: All the lesions were accurately localized using the ultrasound guidance withan accuracy of100%. The use of intraoperative ultrasound significantly improved therate of curative resection of intracranial glioma and shortened the operation time. Theultrasound characteristics of low-grade gliomas were different from those ofhigh-grade gliomasConclusions: Intraoperative ultrasound has the advantage of low-cost, the relativelyshort time required for preparation, fast and convenient, real-time monitoring, repeatability, without radiation, etc. It is an important tool in glioma surgery, has greatvalue in glioma locating, real-time monitoring of residual tumor. It can improvecurative resection rate of the tumor, reduce surgical complications and effectivelyshorten the operation time.
