Science evaluation system is the key of controlling the quality of Chinesetraditional medicine, however, the conventional evaluation methods have negativeeffects on Chinese traditional medicine. NIR(near-infrared spectrum),as a newanalysis technology,bringing some positive effects,has some characteristics,like fast,nondestructive, non-pollution and online analysis.In the first part, NIR spectroscopy method was used for rapid discrimination ofgeographical origins of Chinese herb with Citri Reticulata ’ Chachi ’. NIRspectroscopy diffuse reflectance spectra of60samples of Citrus reticulata Blanco andCitri Reticulata ’Chachi’ were collected in different areas and analyzed by twomethods: clustering analysis and discriminant analysis. In the former method which isClustering analysis was used in order to give a classification on Citrus reticulataBlanco from different origins; the latter method was used to establish a discriminantanalysis model to identify the geographical origin of Citrus reticulata Blanco. It isshown that the correct rate of the internal cross-validation identification was100%. Itis indicated that NIR method is effective way to discriminate Citrus reticulata Blancoand Citri Reticulata ’Chachi’ from different origins.In the second part, NIR spectroscopy combined with chemometrics methods wasused to create a new way which could directly determine two components includingHesperidin and Moisture of Citrus reticulata Blanco.At the begin with, the standardmethods,as the method indexed by "Chinese Pharmacopoeia", were used to determinethe contents of Hesperidin and Moisture from219samples of Citrus reticulataBlanco. At the same time, NIR spectroscopy diffuse reflectance spectra of219samples were collected.Moreover, Partial Least-Squares (PLS) method was used to create a quantitative model of calibration. It is shown that the root-mean-square errorof cross-validation (RMSECV) of the Moisture、hesperidin are0.50470、1.00985, thecorrelation coefficients are0.93613、0.93198, the average recycle rate are101.59%、101.08%. Statistical test was used to analysis the dates and it’s shown that thedifference between NIR prediction values and the values determinated by standardmethods has no statistical significance, It is indicated that NIR method is simple andcan be used in rapid determination of the contents of Citrus reticulata Blanco.In the third part, NIR spectroscopy method combined with chemometricsmethods was used for rapid discrimination of different factories of Huoxiang Zhengqicapsule. NIR spectroscopy diffuse reflectance spectra of60samples of HuoxiangZhengqi capsule were collected in different factories and analyzed by two methods-clustering analysis and discriminator analysis. The result show that the correct rate ofthe internal cross-validation identification was100%. It is believed that NIR methodwas effective way to discriminate Huoxiang Zhengqi capsule from different factories.In the fourth part, NIR spectroscopy method combined with chemometricsmethods was created a new way which could directly determine four componentsincluding Honokiol、 Magnolol、 Hesperidin and Moisture. Secondly, the standardmethods, as the method indexed by "Chinese Pharmacopoeia", were used todetermine the contents of Honokiol、Magnolol、Hesperidin and Moisture from117samples of Huoxiang Zhengqi capsule. At the same time, NIR spectroscopy diffusereflectance spectra of117samples were collected.With the PLS analysis,the resultshow that the root-mean-square error of cross-validation (RMSECV) of the Moisture、Honokiol、Magnolol and Hesperidin are0.77965、0.05430、0.0513and0.07213, thecorrelation coefficients are0.97753、0.94562、0.97178and0.97420, the averagerecycle rate are102.12%、101.26%、97.48%and101.51%., It is trust that NIR methodis simple and can be used in rapid determination of the contents of Huoxiang Zhengqicapsule.
