Objective: The aims of this study were to Compared the difference ofleft atrial function between patients with coronary artery diseases(CAD) andnormal persons. Compared with traditional echocardiography and tissuemotion velocity (TVI), strain rate (SR) correlation method in the evaluationof left atrial function. Evaluation of TVI and SR were measured in theclinical value of left atrial function. Methods: For CAD group(n=40) and control group(n=30),Traditional echocardiography methods:(1)the left atrial maximum volume(LAVmax), the left atrial minimum volume (LAVmin) and left atrialpreliminary systole volume (LAVP)were measured with the Simpson ’ smethod, and calculated the left atrium total ejection fraction (LATEF), leftatrial active ejection fraction (LAAEF) and left atrium passive ejectionfraction (LAPEF).(2) Determination of TVI and SRI technology: In apicalfour-chamber, three-chamber and two-chamber view, the TVI curve and SRcurve of corresponding atrial walls were gained by TDI technology. ThePeak indices(TVIs and SRs) were measured during left ventrial systolicphase,The Peak indices(TVIe and SRe) were measured during left ventrial diastolic early phase,The Peak indices(TVIa and SRa) were measuredduring left ventrial diastolic later phase. The mean peak rates was calculated, and compared with control group. Results:Compared with those of the control group,LAVmax、LAVmin and LAVp of CAD group increased, the LAVmax significantlyincreased (P=0.025). In the left atrial emptying fraction, LATEF had nosignificant difference with the control group, and LAAEF is greater andLAPEF is less than those of the control group (P=0.000,P=0.001). TVIs、TVIe of CAD group were decreased (P=0.003, P=0.013), and TVIaincreased(P=0.000); SRs、SRe of CAD group reduced (P=0.011, P=0.000),SRa is higher than that of control group, but no statistical significance(P=0.182). TVI values and SR values were associated with left atrialemptying fraction have good correlation: The dependability of TVIs andLATEF was closely(r=0.335,P=0.035), TVIa and LAAEF was closely too(r=0.501,P=0.001). There was no significant correlation between TVIe andLAPEF (r=0.301; P=0.060). SRs and LATEF, SRa and LAAEF werecorrelation (r=0.389, P=0.013; r=0.404, P=0.010), there was no significantcorrelation between SRe and LAPEF (r=0.169; P=0.297). In addition, compared with SRa, TVIa were correlated significantly with left atrialejection force.(r=0.807,P=0.000.VS. r=0.277,P=0.083)Conclusions:(1)Both tissue motion velocity (TVI) and strain rate(SR)obtained by tissue Doppler imaging can be used to evaluate left atrial function in patients with coronary artery diseases(CAD), and there is a goodcorrelation with traditional echocardiography parameters and left atrialemptying fraction.(2)On the left atrial function in patients with CAD, leftatrial emptying fraction, TVI and SR three kind of method is consistent withthe conclusion: compared with the control group, the Left atrial storagefunction and left atrial channel storage function decline, but left atrialbooster pump function enhancement.(3)Compared with SR,TVI evaluationof left atrial function in patients with CAD results more sensitive, the TVIand left atrial ejection fraction correlated better than SR.
