Professor Zhou Zhongying’s Experience Of Treating Intractable Lung Disease From Kidney Theory

Under careful guidance of my tutor Professor Wang Zhiying, this thesis presents reseach, introduction and summary of Professor Zhou Zhongying’s academic thought and clinic experience of treating hard lung disease from Kidney Theory. In this thesis, it is carefully discussed the etiology, pathology and treatment rules of the intractable Lung Diseases in the angle of the lung kidney related theories on the basis of theory system of Traditional Chinese Medicine.In the preface of this thesis, the definition of the intractable diseases is introduced. And the common disease categories of intractable Lung diseases will be emphasized from the aspects of both TCM and Western medicine and the disadvantages of the Western medicine to treat these diseases. Therefore, it is suggested that it is a crucial method to use TCM to treat intractable Lung Disease with some advantages. In addition, it is proposed that summary rich clinic experience and academic thoughts of treating intractable Lung Disease with Kidney Theory from Professor Zhou Zhongying has significant meaning for inherit and develop TCM.In the precursor part of the thesis, the relationship between kidney and respiratory movement is introduced briefly.and relevant systematic literature review is made in the aspect of ancient literature, modern literature, recent clinical and experimental research. All these provide a sufficient theoretical basis to treat intractable Lung Diseases by Kidney Theory.The main body of the thesis, The experience of treating intractable Lung Diseases according to Kidney Theory from Professor Zhou Zhongying is carefully discussed. Firstly, the physiological functions of lung and kidney are introduced. Thus the interaction between lung and kidney is presented respectively from physiological and pathological aspects in the angle of liquid water metabolism, respiratory movement, Jin Shui interpromoting and nutrients generation. Then it will be discussed from the dimensions of etiology, pathogenesis, therapy and critical thinking of syndromes and medical treatments. With respect of pathogenesis, the reason why treat intractable Lung Disease according to Kidney Theory, is because dysfunctional organs and evil influence kidney. The pathogenesis are related to lung diseases influence kidney and kidney diseases.which are the basic pathogenesis of the treating intractable Lung Diseases with Kidney Theory. With respect of dialectical point, kidney dysfunction in Qi holding, Qi deficiency of lung and kidney, Yang deficiency water flooding(kidney), Yin deficiency of lung and excess in the upper (lung) and deficiency in the lower (kidney) will be discussed seperately, correspondingly, therapeutic treatment, common prescriptions of Professor Zhou will be list. Furthermore, classic cases of treating intractable Lung diseases with Kidney Theory will be analysised and discussed. Finally, summary of Professor Zhou’s academic thoughts will be present. At the end of the thesis, personal warnings will be suggested that it is not easy to cure intractable Lung Diseases with Kidney Theory. It should be considered the whole syndromes, rather than only focusing lung treatment. It should be noticed by doctors that interdependence between Yin and Yang, which means treat kidney deficiency without ignoring the kidney positive or purely kidney treatment. In addition, doctors should familiar with proper use of medicine during the treatment.
