Objective:To explore the effect of pure breast-feeding and artificial feeding on thephysical、mental、motor、temperament development of term infant and preterm infantat6months of age. Prove the importance of breastfeeding for infant growth anddevelopment and provide theoretical basis to promote breastfeeding. Methods: Ninty seven term infants and sixty seven preterm infant from dalianobstetrics and gynecology hospital were chosen for this study. According to theirfeeding types, they were assigned into4group: pure breastfeeding and term infantgroup(group A n=54);artificial feeding and term infant group(group B n=43);breastfeeding and preterm infant group (group C n=38);artificial feeding and preterminfant group(group D n=29).Their body weight、length and head circumference werechecked when they were bron、42days、2months、3months and6months (grope A andB) and when they were bron、42days、2months、3months、4months、5months、6months.(grope C and D).CDCC Scales of Infant Development was used to evaluatetheir neurodevelopment at age6months.The result was indicated as mentaldevelopment index(MDI),psychomotor development index(PDI).Infant TemperamentScale Standardized in China was used to check the temperament type and ninedimensions of the all infants.SPSS Statistics17.0software was used for statisticsanalysis.P<0.05was considered statistically significant. Four groups of gender, thechildbirth way, parents’ cultural degree has no statistical difference.Results:1、Different feeding ways and physical development(1)The influence of different feeding ways on body weight:in birth to42days,42days to2months,2months or3months three period of time the weight net addedvalue of group A is greater than group B, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05), but the weight net added value of3month to6months in the two groups has no statistically significant difference. To42days of birth,42days to2months,2months to3months time, the weight net added value of groupC were higher than groupD,difference has statistical significance.(2)The influence of different feeding ways on body length: in2month to3month,3month to6months two period of time the height net added value of group A is greaterthan the groupB, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05), in born to42days,42days to2months two period of time the height net added value of two groupshas no statistically significant difference. In42days of birth,42days to2months,2months or3months,3months to4months four period of time, height net added valueof groupC were higher than groupD, difference has statistical significance.(P<0.05).(3) The influence of different feeding ways on head circumference: in birth to42days,2month to3month two period of time head circumference added value of groupA is greater than group B, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05), In42days to2month,3month to6month two period of time difference of two groups has nostatistical significance. In42days to2months,2months or3months two period oftimes, head circumference net added value of group C were greater than group D,difference has statistical significance.2、The different feeding way and mental and motor developmentThe intelligence and motor development index of group A and group D in the6months after birth were higher than groupB and group D, difference has statisticalsignificance (P <0.05).3、Different feeding way and temperamentCompared to group A and group B high-maintenance type temperament proportionin the two groups no significant differences. The result of group A and group B is thesame. The phobotaxis and Emotional nature of the two breastfeeding groups is higherthan the two artificial feeding groups.Conclusions:1、No matter term and preterm infants exclusive breastfeeding has promoting effecton the speed of early physical development.2、The mental development index and motor development index of exclusivebreastfeeding infants were higher than the pure artificial feeding infants at6months. 3、The temperament type of term and preterm infants at6months has nothing to dowith exclusive breastfeeding or not, The phobotaxis and Emotional nature of the twobreastfeeding groups is higher than the two artificial feeding groups.
