Methods: Thisstudy was designed to perform questionnaire survey and physical examination. The objects of this study were residents for aged40years old and abovewhich were randomly selected from LuZhou City by the multi-stage samplingmethod. A total of10,150people were involved in this investigation from April2011to November2011. Background information was collected by aquestionnaire survey. The average value of BMI was (23.9±3.3)kg/m2.The BMI of male was (24.0±3.2) kg/m2and the BMI of female was(23.9±3.4) kg/m2.The BMI of male was decreased with the increasing age(P<0.05), while the BMI of female increased with increasing age (P<0.05).②Therate of prevalence on overweight over40years old was36.19%. The rate ofprevalence on overweight of male (38.41%) was dramatically higher than thatof female (35.03%)(P <0.01).The overweight rate of each age group wasdramatically different (P <0.001). The overweight rate increased gradually withincreaseing age, and reached a peak in sixties years old (P <0.01). Theoverweight rates of female in all age groups were significantly different (P<0.001) and was tended to increase with age. The overweight rates of male ineach age group were different (P <0.002) and overweight rate of male had noupward trend with age.③T he obesity ratefor aged40years old and abovewas11.32%. Rate of male was10.89%and rate of female was11.55%. Theobesity rate of male in forties years old was dramatically higher than that offemale (P <0.001). The obesity rate of female in sixties and seventies years oldwere significant higher than that of male (P <0.001). The obesity rate wasupward trend with age, reached a peak in sixties years old (P <0.01). The obesity rate of female increased with increasing age (P <0.05), while rate ofmale decreased with increasing age (P <0.01).④This study was designed to setfollowing12factors as independent variables: sex, education, marital status, work, exercise (various forms of movement such as tai chi, dancing, aerobics, yoga, running, etc.), alcohol consumption, daily vegetable intake, family historyof diabetes, sedentary time one day, birthday, menstrual situation, drink tea andthen proceeded the statistics of overweight and obesity rates, also as theprevalence of BMI≥24kg/m2.The rate of overweight and obesity varied indifferent population with different working condition, the training situation, education level, marital status, exercise, drinking tea, etc(P<0.05).⑤Throughnon-conditional logistic regression model, using gradually forward method foranalysis, age, education level, daily sitting time, drinking tea and family historyof diabetes were the influencing factors of overweight and obesity. There wasan increased tendency of overweight and obesity with increasing age. Highereducation level accompanied a decreasing trend of overweight and obesity. Therisk of overweight and obesity was1.144times in people whose daily sittingtime was more than five hours than that of less than five hours. The risk was1.161times in people with family history diabetes than that with no familyhistory of diabetes. The risk was1.158times in people of the group whodrinking tea often than the group that drinking tea little, while the risk was1.124times in people of the group who drinking tea little than the group did notdrink tea. Conclude: The prevalence of overweight in the population for aged 40years old and above in LuZhou city was high. The number of overweightin the population was large, and the prevalence of obesity might be furtherincreased. The overweight and obesity in the population was severe.Particularly the middle-aged men and postmenopausal women, the interventionof overweight and obesity should be urgently needed. Health education shouldbe strengthened for people of overweight and obesity risk behaviors, lifestyles, and genetic background and so on. The formation of reasonable diet, exerciseand other healthy behavior and lifestyle should be encourage in order to preventand control of overweight and obesity in the middle-aged and elderly people.
