Objective:To explore the effect of the KABP model of health education about knowledge, attitudes beliefs, practice and the quality of life of postoperative patients with laryngeal cancer, and evaluate the prospect of clinical application to draw up practical and feasible health education model in order to improve the quality of life; Analysis of the influencing factors on the quality of the postoperation patients with laryngeal cancer. Methods:The research was an intervention study. Eighty-nine patients with laryngeal carcinoma who were conformed by pathology for surgery were selected from the ENT department Of the First Affiliated Hospital of Beng bu Medical College from July2011to Aug2013.The experimental group was45patients, the control group was44patients. The control group was given laryngeal cancer surgery routine nursing, while the patients in the experimental group received the KABP model of health education on the basis of laryngeal cancer surgery routine nursing care. The Intervention time was six months. University of Washington Quality of Life (UW-QOL) Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Self-rating Depression scale (SDS) and the self-designed KABP questionnaire about laryngeal cancer were used for quality of life evaluation at the end of the intervention. The statistical software SPSS for windows version17.0was used for data analysis.Results:1. The total quality of life and health related quality of life compared with the preoperative overall decline. Compared with one month before the illness, Seventy-one patients(79.78%) thought the health related quality of life(HR-QOL) was worse than before, only6patients(6.74%) thought the health related quality of life better than before, and12cases(13.48%) were as same as before. No one thought much better than before.2. The postoperation patients with laryngeal cancer have been with different degrees of anxiety and depression symptoms. According to SAS and SDS score,46.07%of the patients has been anxiety,41.57%of the patients showed symptoms of depression;3. After the intervention, compared with the control group, the quality of life of the intervention group patients with laryngeal cancer improved significantly (P=.000), Specific performance in10aspects:pain, appearance, activity, recreation, swallowing, speech, shoulder function, saliva, mood, anxiety, there is significant difference(P<0.05). After the intervention, the intervention group of patients with SAS and SDS scores were significantly lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05);4. The intervention group in the knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, practice and total score were higher than control group, two groups have statistical significance (P=.000). The intervention group patients beliefs mean score was the highest percentage of full marks, it was as much as92.00%,The control group patients practice mean score the lowest percentage of full marks, it was Only about52.79%;5.To analyze the effect factor by Logistic regression in patients with laryngeal carcinoma after larygectomy, variables in the equation is operation method (B=2.365, P=.001), the KABP mode of health education (B=2.228, P=.001), with pipe (B=3.020, P=.012), education status (B=1.174, P=.049).Conclusion:l.The quality of life of postoperative patients with laryngeal cancer overall is on the decline, nearly half of patients with different degree of anxiety and depression symptoms;2. The patient’s level of knowledge and practice is medium, beliefs and attitudes to a higher level. Knowledge, attitude, beliefs and attitudes, practice are positively correlated;3. The main factors that affect the quality of life of postoperative patients with laryngeal carcinoma are operative method, the KABP mode of health education, extubation, education status. The KABP mode of health education is the most important factor.4. The KABP mode of health education can significantly improve the quality of the postoperation patients with laryngeal cancer;...
