Objection To find a effective treatment for knee osteoarthritis by the comparation of warm acupuncture combined with cervus and cucumis polypeptide injected in the acupoints and intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate. To investigate the therapeutic mechanism from the hemorheology. Methods Randomly divided60knee osteoarthritis patients of blood stagnation type collected from the clinic into two groups with30patients in each group. The experimental group were treated with warm acupuncture combined with cervus and cucumis polypeptide injected in the acupoints30days, while the control group were treated with intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate5times. The clinical symptoms of every patient were scored and their blood viscosity and andplasma viscosity from the peripheral blood were examed before the treatment started, and all this were done again after the treatment.6months after this treatment finished, peripheral blood and the blood viscosity andplasma viscosity their clinical symptoms were scored again. All this data were compared and analyzed after they were totally collected. Results Both therapies improve the symptom significantly and the efficacy of the experimental group is better than the control group(P<0.05).The level of follow-up symptom score of the control group is higher than it after the treatment(P<0.05).The hemorheology data of the experimental group were significantly reduced(P<0.05) while that of the control group showed no differences(P>0.05).The D-value of symptom scored before and after the treatment in the experimental group got a positive correlation with the D-value of blood viscosity before and after the treatment(.P<0.01).So does the D-value of symptom scored before the treatment and in the follow-up test do(P<0.01) while none of these correlations was found in the control group(P>0.05). And the D-value of symptom scored after the treatment and in the follow-up test shows different level of correlations with the blood viscosity checked after the treatment. Conclusion I.In the treatment of knee osteoarthritis of blood stagnation type, the efficacy of warm acupuncture combined with cervus and cucumis polypeptide injected in the acupoints was significantly better than that of intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate.2.The former therapy could keep the efficacy longer and prevent the symptom from recrudesce.3. Warm acupuncture combined with cervus and cucumis polypeptide injected in the acupoints could reduce the blood viscosity of blood stagnation type knee osteoarthritis.4.A higher level blood stagnation could worse the symptom.
