The Clinical Observation Of The Cheneau Brace With Gasbags Used In The Treatment Of The Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

Objective:To install a type of airbag device in the base of Cheneau brace and to observe its clinical efficacy in the treatment of the moderate adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS).Methods:According to the inclusion and exclusion criterion,we chose30moderate AIS patients in the period of2012.10-2013.6. they were collected from the orthopedic outpatient cases in TCM hospital of Quan zhou city (including the cases of health medical screening among the elementary and middle school students in Li Cheng area of Quan zhou city).There are five males and twenty-five females among of them.the average age is13.3±1.5years(range10-16)and the average Cobb angle is26.8±3.9°(rang20-32°);and the vertebral rotation angle is I-II class,the Risser sign levels is0-2°;There are five cases in3bents and twenty-five cases in4bends according the classification of Cheneau scoliosis.The longest course of the disease is1year,while the shortest is1month.The patients were divided into treatment group and control group by using of the randomized controlled method. The15patients of treatment group were treated with Cheneau brace with gasbags while the another15patients of the control group were treated with Cheneau brace without gasbags.Try to compare the scoliosis degree (Cobb angle) and the apical vertebral rotation (AVR) of the patients in the two groups after treatment.Results:Twenty-seven patients (25females and2males)with a mean follow-up of9months (raneg6months-1years) are presented in this study.Three patients (2cases of control group,1case of treatment group, all of them are males) gave up the brace treatment because of the recurring tenderness and blisters of the skin.Compering the Cobb angle and the apical vertebral rotation:①The Cobb angle of the treatment group is26.3±3.9°hile the control group is27.4±4.0°efore the treatment;and the Cobb angle of the treatment group is22.7±4.7°hile the control group is26.2±6.1°after the treatment The average Cobb anger improvement of the treatment group is3.6±1.3°,and the average rate of correction is13.7%.While the average Cobb anger improvement of the the control group is1.1±2.6°,and the average rate of correction is4%.According to the effectiveness standards treated in brace unified by the annual meeting of the SRS in2005[1].There are5cases are obviously effective,9cases are effective in the treatment group, and the rate of effective cases is 100%,while in the control group,there is1case is obviously effective,11cases are effective and1case is invalid,the rate of effective cases is92.3%;There is statistical difference in the results of treatment between the groups (p<0.05).②.The AVR of the treatment group is1.64±0.50class while the control group is1.69±0.48class before the treatment;and the AVR of the treatment group is1.21±0.43class the while the control group is1.54±0.66class after the treatment. There is statistical difference in the results of treatment between the groups (p<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with Cheneau brace without the gasbags,the Cheneau brace with the gasbags may be more effectively in resisting the scoliosis and resisting the AVR in the treatment of the moderate adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
