Objective:To investigate the clinical feature of acute low-tone sensorineural hearing loss(ALHL) and clinical curative effects of steroid therapy combined with Wuling San in treating ALHL.Methods:ALHL patients from Sep.2012to Dec.2013were collected. The clinical features of ALHL were studied through inquiring their medical history in detail, giving thorough physical and audiological examination. The exact clinical curative effects of steroid therapy combined with Wuling San(and/or mannitol) was analyzed.Results:There were14males and38females among52ALHL cases, the ratio of male to female was1:2.7; the highest incidence were among patients aged20to49years old, accounting for75%. There were22cases of the right ear,28cases of the left ear and2cases of both ears. The most common onset occupation was company staff with26cases(50%), and the most common onset season was winter with18cases(34.6%). There were24cases(46.1%) were attacked by ALHL when they woke up in the morning, and the most common onset time of female patients was after their menstruation with21cases(55.3%). Fatigue was the main inducing factor with30cases (57.7%). The chief complains were tinnitus, aural fullness, and hearing loss. The total efficiency was88.5%, the cure rate was63.5%.Conclusion:ALHL had its clinical features, for example, the highest incidence were among females, the young and the middle-aged patients from20to49years old. The treatment was effective, so the awareness of this disease should be raised.
