Snoing is due to upper airway anatomical or functional narrow, airflow throughthe upper airway obstruction, formed a vortex vibration of the soft palate.Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome refers to apnea and hypoventilationcaused by the repetitive partial or complete closure of the upper airway during sleepwhich will lead to louder snoring, frequent awakenings, disrupted sleep, andexcessive daytime sleepiness. According to a large number of researches, OSAHS isan independent risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, such ascoronary heart disease、hypertension、atherosclerosis、heart failure and cerebralapoplexy. It has become a huge public hygienic issue. Meanwhile, severe OSAHSmay also interfere with patients’ normal sleep, causing daytime sleepiness,absent-minded, fatigue, and efficiency reduction, affecting the driver’s riding abilitywhich will lead to a series of social problems such as traffic accidents. So far,OSAHS has not been fully understood, many patients do not aware of the damageOSAHS and they do not go to the hospital for examination which causes delaysdiagnosis of OSAHS. Therefore, it is of great significance of discovering apreliminary screening method of OSAHS to screening suspected OSAHS patients inorder to implement early prevention, reducing medical fee, preventing theoccurrence of severe complications effectively, and improving people’s quality oflife.【Objective】This thesis is going to take the physical examination ofgovernment functionary as an opportunity to make an investigation on snoring anddaytime sleepiness among government functionary in Changchun. Ourinvestigators adopt standard instruments and methods to measure height, weight andwaist size. Using “Epidata3.1” to input physical measurements and physicalexamination information and “software SPSS13.0”to analyze the statistic.【Results】(1) The detection rate of snoring:People who snore194people(44.2%),who are mild snorers45(10.3%), who are moderate snorers124people(28.2%), and those who are severe snorers25people (5.7%).
