Background:Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT), also known as Hashirnto’s disease and aschronic lymphocytic thyroiditis pathologically, is a type of autoimmunethyroiditis. Recent research data showed that the incidence of HTincreased year by year, and it’s worth noting that the incidence isbecoming much younger and clinical manifestations are becoming morecomplex. And, pathogenesis of HT is closely related to many factors, butthe specific pathogenesis is not quite clear so far. Autoimmunity iscurrently accepted, mainly the immune dysfunction of type1T helper(Th1) cells. Elevated titers to specific thyroglobulin antibody (TGAb) andthyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO-Ab) in the thyroid tissue occurs inpatient’ s serum.Thyroid hormone replacement therapy is an importanttreatment for patients with Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, but patients mayfeel heavy-laden spiritually and mentally due to continuous progressionof the disease and life-long medication. Thyroid function can bemanifested with hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism or euthyroidism.Corbrin capsule, a type of capsule preparation with dry powder ofCordyceps sinensis mycelium as a major ingredient, can enhance thebody immunity, raise leukocytes, reduce blood lipid levels, eliminatefatigue and play anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor roles. By observing theeffects of Corbrin capsule on thyroid autoimmune antibodies and thyroidfunction in patients with Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, this paper is to: i)further investigate its role in immunoregulation; and ii) evaluate its therapeutic effect on patients with Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism. Objective:By observing effects of Corbrin capsule on titers to TGAb and TPO-Ab,serum free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4) and thyroidstimulating hormone (TSH) in patients with Hashimoto’s hypothyroidismthis study investigated how this capsule plays a role in autoimmuneantibodies and the thyroid function of HT and evaluated its therapeuticeffect on the disease. Methods:Forty patients diagnosed with Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism wererandomly divided into two group: treatment group (n=20) and controlgroup (n=20). The control group was given Selfheal capsule andEuthyrox to control the thyroid function and maintain the treatment; thetreatment group, on this basis, used in conjunction with Corbrin capsules(3times a day,5capsules each, oral) for2months; meanwhile, SerumFT3, FT4, TSH, titers to TGAb and TPO-Ab were inspected in allsubjects before and after treatment by CLIA. Anyone who had adverseeffects (i.e., drug allergy) during the study was excluded from thestudy.20healthy controls were included in the normal group. Results:(I) Levels of TPO-Ab and TGAb before treatment were significantlyhigher in both treatment group and control group than in normal group(P<0.01).(II) Levels of TPO-Ab and TGAb in both treatment group andcontrol group after treatment significantly decreased compared with thosebefore treatment (P<0.01), and the treatment group decreased sharplycompared with the control (P<0.05).(III) For patients in both treatmentgroup and control group, thyroid functions after treatment were significantly improved compared with those before treatment (P<0.01),and no significant difference was found in thyroid function between bothgroups after treatment. Conclusion:Thyroid hormone replacement therapy and Selfheal capsule inconjunction with Corbrin capsules in the treatment of Hashimoto’shypothyroidism can markedly lower titers to TGAb and TPO-Ab andimprove autoimmune responses.
