PurposeIn order to study the correlation between the incidence of ischemic ophthalmopathy (IOP) and carotid artery stenosis and the accuracy of color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) digital subtraction angiography (DSA) by comparative analysis.MethodSelect97cases of patients who had performed examination of DSA on carotid artery in Shanxi DaYi hospital. First of all, gather medical history of the patients which mainly includes transient amaurosis, visual field defects, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy etc. Record the patients’ results of DSA and CDFI on carotid artery. Then routine eye examination that includes funduscopic examination, was performed on all patients, corrected vision, intraocular pressure, etc. The further examination was performed on the patients who could not diagnosed in the routine eye examination to clarify the presence of ischemic ophthalmopathy that includes retinal fluorescein angiography, visual electrophysiology, visual field, optical coherence tomography, etc. Use the Spearman rank correlation to deal with the statistics and analyze correlation between carotid artery stenosis and ischemic ophthalmopathy. Use the results of DSA as the "golden standard" to compute the indicators of CDFI on Carotid stenosis that include sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, etc. Use the Kappa consistency test to check consistency between DSA and CDFI When it is used in the diagnosis of carotid artery stenosis is mild, moderate, severe or occlusion.ResultsBased on the Spearman rank correlation, the incidence of ischemic ophthalmopathy was positively correlated with the stenosis degree of carotid artery (rs=0.90, p<0.05). The final diagnosis was established on the results of DSA which is the "gold standard". It was found that the sensitivity of CDFI testing on the presence of narrow was86.6%and82.9%for specificity,85%for accuracy,87.3%for positive predictive value, and negative predictive value was81.9%.CDFI results and DSA results are highly consistent when it is used to diagnose the level of carotid artery stenosis.(Kw=0.8011,p<0.05)。ConclusionThe incidence of ischemic ophthalmopathy has a close relationship with the stenosis degree of carotid artery. The CDFI analysis of the carotid artery can be used as a routine examination for clinical diagnosis of carotid artery stenosis.
