| Objective: To compare the treatment results of interlocking intramedullary nail and external fixation in tibia and fibula fractures retrospectively.Method: Take the fifty cases into two groups. One group is treated with interlocking intramedullary nail, and the other group is treated with external fixation. All were followed-up for 6~12 months.Result: The interlocking intramedullary nailed group have advantage of lower rate of infection over the external fixed group. But they do not have significant difference on the part of the time of healing and curative effection(P>0.05).Conclusion: Compared with external fixation, the method of interlocking intramedullary nail has the characteristics of stability, fewer complications and higher rate of fracture recovery, it is more suitable for the treatment of below GustiloⅢa tibia and fibula fracture, especially for many segment fracture. The method of external fixation is simple and it has the characteristics of few injury, which can be applied effectively in treatment of above CustiloⅢb tibia and fibula, but the relatively higher of infection. So they both have high clinical application value. |
