Object: To examine the effect and safty of the modified BaoheTang which is composed according to the principle of removing stagnation, clearing heat and dissipating damp when it is used to treat retention of food in children.Method: we selected 30 children who were diagnosed as retention of food which belongs to undigestive food transforming into heat syndrome according to the diagnostic criteria written in "The Diagnostic and curative effect criterion of TCM·The diagnostic and curative effect criterion of pediatric diseases in TCM·stangnacy and obstruction". The individual stastic integration before and after receiving the treatment were compared and the curative effects had been observed for a course of treatment.Result: A total of 15 children were clinically cured (the rate is 50%).11showed obvious curative effects(the rate is 36.66%) and 3 showed curative effects.Only one patient did not get any improvement.For all the cases,the effective and recovering rate is 86.66%, and the effective rate is 96.66%.No significant side effects were observed.Conclusion: In Singapore, the treating retention of food in children and it is safe and effective to treat retention of food in children with the modified Baohe Tang. It is meaningful to do further study on this method.
