Background: It has been thousands of years since people learned about cancer. Nowadays, especially in these two decades, large amount of cancer articles had been published. Among them, many anti-cancer prescriptions had been created according to theories on the basis of latest achievements of medical study. But multi-center study is still rare, that means prescriptions are made more according to related theories and ones own clinical experiences than evidence-based studies. The problem is, like many SR articles tell, the one that is theoretically helpful in cancer therapy but useless when put into practice. So, to discover the rules and laws of how to form anti-cancer prescriptions on the basis of collected data is more likely to give an objective answer.Content: Retrospection of cancer literatures of past dynasties; Collecting and analyzing anti-cancer prescriptions of these two decades.Objective: To have a better overview of the development of TCM oncology; Give advise on Selecting valuable objects for scientific study in the field of oncology; Provide evidence for clinical and promote, if any, the development of EBM of TCM oncology.Methods: literature study and theoretic discussionResult: Found most frequently used Chinese herbals of 23 different cancers; rules and laws of forming anti-cancer prescriptions is under discussion; 5 commonly used description-forming models had been presented and discussedConclusion: TCM anti-cancer prescriptions plays a very important role in nowadays comprehensive treatment of cancer in a way of enhance clinical effects as well as a good ensure of better life of cancer patients; Studies on other TCM therapies should be put into a more important position; More studies on how to prevent the occurrences of cancer by using TCM methods should be done.
