Reading Chinese newspaper is the best way for Chinese learners tolearn Chinese social status, and also the biggest reading desire afterChinese learners who have gained some reading skills. People’s coherentcomprehension of discourse depends on the schematic knowledge in theirmind. People living in different cultural contexts have differentschematic knowledge. Practices prove that Schema Theory is thetheoretical basis of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In thisarticle, we discuss several tactics by the enlightenment of Schema Theory,and put forward an assumption of establishing a new teaching model withCommunication Task as the unit of teaching framework.This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part introducesthe related research and basic theories which lead to some principlesand ideals in the design. The second part explains designer’s idea andhow to design the News paper reading course for interculturalcommunication. The third part shows the teaching process from the start.Teaching result is implemented and feedback in the fourth part.Suggestions are collected from learners and participants afterimplementing the design, by sending questionnaires and interviewing.Conclusion will be shown in the last part. The author will give someadvice on how to put intercultural communication in newspaper readingcourse.
