| During the1990s to the early2010s, a new genre film appeared and developed in thecommercial film market of Mainland China, which is a sub genre of horror film, namely"psychological traumatic thriller".This genre film reflects China’s current social symptoms witha feature of "low investment high return", sharing the existing film market. However, there is nosystematical genre analysis on this topic; on the contrary, current research outlets tend tocompare it with its counterparts in Europe, U.S., Japan, South Korea, and other countries.Starting with the analysis of the history of "thriller" in China, through close reading,psychoanalysis, genre analysis, and comparative studies, this dissertation tries to define thepsychological traumatic thriller.It consists of five parts: introduction, chapter I "Behind thePsychological Condition and the Social Symptoms", chapter II "Research on NarrativeModel",chapter III "the Criticism and the Outlook", and the last part, that is the epilogue. |
