The drainage of Daqing River and Xiaoqing River in the north ofShandong, east by the Bohai Gulf, west met the Grand Canal, which wasthe water traffic arteries connected to the Shandongtransportation. Shandong province was located in the lower reaches of theYellow River area, which affected mang of the rivers in the region,andDaqing River and Xiaoqing River were no exception. Daqing River andXiaoqing River not only originate from Jishui, but also were continuationsof it in modern. Jishui was one of the ancient four rivers, often intrudedby the Yellow River because of next to it. From alone to the sea developedto cross the river to the south, at last, Jishui was flooded, then theremaining of it growed into Daqing Riverand Xiao qinghe.Since ancient times Shandong had much fish and salt, the riverwayof Daqing River and Xiaoqing River had be used to transport them in Jishuitimes.With the intrusion of Jishui, Daqing River and Xiaoqing River weretaking shape. Daqing Rive rand Xiaoqing River mouth was the mainlyconcentrated place of saltworks in Shandong, therefor, mainly saltshipped to the west through them. Yuan dynasty, Daqing River and XiaoqingRiver had undertook the task of sea salt in shandong west transportgradually. Owing to past governments applied the salt monopoly system,the distribution of salt was very important in making money, which ledto making the best of Daqing River and Xiao qing River’transportfunction.In order to assured the salt west transport,maintenting andmanaging Daqing Riverand Xiaoqing Rivermany times, the water transportof them came to prosperity. The riverway of Daqing River and Xiaoqing Riverwere perfect by degree for the important function.The development of the water transport of Daqing River and XiaoqingRiver promoted commodity circulation in the basin. Salt was always themainly supply good in the water transport,while the distribution methodhighly impressed Daqing River and Xiao qing River. With the developmentof the salt transport,the two booming rivers drived other goods,at thesame time, the towns along Daqing River and Xiaoqing River got greatdevelopment.
