In order to reform the minority communities in western China, China ChristianChurch launched the Border Service Movement in the late of1939. According to theidea of Social Gospel which had been advocated by the China Christian Church,Frontier Service Department established three service zone in Chuanxi, Xikang,Yunnan and was engaged in education, agriculture, animal husbandry, health andgospel, which has contributed a lot to the social development of minoritycommunities in western China. Besides the service, China Christian Church haslaunched some research activities about frontier and gotten remarkable fruits. TheYunnan Border Service Movement was mainly in north of Yunnan for nationalityMiao and Yi from1943to1945. The Yunnan Border Service Movement was in ashort time. However, it made a useful contribution and has historical significance.This essay examines the history of Yunnan Border Service Movement throughrecords and social and historical effect of Yunnan Border Service Movement.Meanwhile the essay reveals the influence of Yunnan Border Service Movement tothe development of Christian in modern China and Yunnan during the Period of theAnti—Japan War...
