In recent years, the strong traditional flavor of Ye Guangqin`s family novels havebeen concerned and discussed by the critics. The present thesis will analyze Ye`s familynovels from the aspects of the Confucianists, Taoists and Legalists, and which willinclude the following four parts.Part one will pay attention to the important status of culture in the Qing dynasty andhow does it affect Ye`s writing. After setting up the feudal dynasty, the Qing governorstook encouraging actions to the traditional culture of Han, which not only improving thecultural standard of Man nationality but also encouraging the communication and culturemerging between Man and Han people. The long family history, the cultivation from herparents and brothers, and the rich life experience of herself, all imposed Ye Guangqin soirrevocable influence on her novel writings that she could write and describe her familystories with an objective viewpoint. The second part will analysis the influence of the Confucianists to Ye`s series offamily novels writing. Confucian culture is the major thoughts of Chinese traditionalculture. Its ethics principles impressed the ancient Chinese people deeply. Firstly, thethesis will discourse upon these novel figures who have received the Confucian culture. All of the figures in Ye`s novels had significantly brand of Confucianists. Secondly, withthe time going on, the rotten ethical principles in the Confucian culture, such as the threeobediences and the four virtues, the three cardinal guides and the five constant virtuesand the feudal marriage thoughts have depressed the development of humanity. YeGuangqin criticized these feudal ethics reasonably which gives an expression of herspeculative ability. The third part mainly implied to the Taoists factors in Ye`s works. The Taoism isone of the main thoughts in traditional Chinese culture and includes the features ofinaction, free and easygoing, and moderate, which influence these figures in Ye`s works. But some traditional thoughts inherited from the feudal Taoism have tragedy impacts onthe figures in her nuvels. Ye Guangqin have received the education of modern times andalso the Western countries, so she could judge her family reasonably and appreciate andcriticize the Taoism soberly. The last part will analysis Ye`s works from the aspect of Legalism. In the traditionalChinese feudal politics, the emperors governed his country with the Confucianism andthe Legalism. Though the Legalism have not been the main thought in China, but itsinfluence is incredible. The legalism encourages to take draconian laws, and whichwould lead to tragedy consequences. So, in her family novels, Ye criticizes it severely. The Legalism also has its positive aspects, for example, its sober estimate of the historydeveloping. And these figures in Ye`s works have shown this feature.Lastly, as the three major thoughts of Chinese native culture, the Confucianism,Taoism and Legalism have important influences on the development of Chinese history. In Ye`s family novels, we can see the influences of the three thoughts and it reflects thecomplexity and success of her works. We can not judge her works just in accordancewith one thought.
