Metaphor is an important content in the study of the cognitive linguistics, andthe cognitive view of metaphor makes emphasis on that metaphoric process is themapping of the source domain and the target domain. Lahu language belongs to theYi language branch of the Sino-Tibetan family, which has been paid close attention inmany aspects. However, the study of metaphors on Lahu language is just starting. So,this thesis is starting from the angle of the vocabulary and basic on the contemporarytheory, with the purpose of supporting and perfecting Lakoff’s contemporary theoryof metaphor.Chapter One: Firstly, this chapter begins with the locatives, and locatives areimportant part of the space concepts and the basic metaphors in Lahu language.Among the metaphors, Spatial metaphor is the basic embodied things about theobjective world.Chapter Two: Make carefully analysis on Body Metaphors, Color Metaphors, andKinship Term Metaphors. From that, this part could be comprehensive and detailed tothe readers.Chapter Three: In this part, the study reaches deeply into the aspects on thesemantic and grammar features of the metaphors. And base on it, the nature of themetaphors could be revealed as well as possible. All in all, there are four types:nominal metaphors, adjectival metaphors, verbal metaphors and quantifier metaphors.Chapter Four: This part discusses about what is the resources of the metaphors ofLahu Language, and comes to be an conclusion that those are from the myth, story,proverb of Lahu. In the end of this part, it discovered there is close relationshipbeyond the culture, the mind and metaphors. And the functions of the metaphors arelinguistic functions and cognitive functions.Chapter Five: This is the end of the thesis, so it makes an conclusion of the wholearticle, and shows the shorts, so that, it can go on the further more studies.
