The most basic thing is ones attitude about life and death. Theconnotation and denotation of life consciousness is very wide, this paper illustrates in threeaspects: first, the land is the source of life for farmers. The history of the revolutionary war ismainly about dividing field and defending our country. Therefore, land is the theme that wecan not pass away. The land is not only the peasants’ living resources, but also the root of theirlif’e as well as the destination. The land carry the farmers survival needs，desires，dignity andthe pursuit of their root of life，another problem is of the struggle of life when we are underthe force from home and abroad. Emotion is one of the original powers of life，it makespeople have the confidence of the survival and the strength to carry guns on the battlefield.Love is the main factor for people to participate in the revolutionary struggle in the novel. Inthe intersection of revolution and the emotion, love can still show its beauty. It can brakethrough barriers of the family and get rid ’of the pure thoughts of revenging for ones family,but for profound military and civilian. At the same time there has touching friendship. Thethird chapter focus on th’e formation of the writers death consciousness and how it affectingthe character’s attitudes towards death and life in the text. Death consciousness is the core oflife consciousness. In the revolutionary war full of blood and tears, death has become anormal state of life. Still with the fear of death unconsciously, people have completed thetranscendence of death through their beliefs and the pursuit of lif’es value.
