Research On Early Modernization In Liaoning (1916-1931)

Modernization was a global trend of development of human society，and nocountry could get rid of this trend，and China was no exception. Throughout thehistory of China’s modernization development, we could realize thatsoutheastern coastal areas were the most rapid development in themodernization process of China, at the same time the content covered awide range. Modernization was not confined to a single field, but the set of social,economic, political, cultural, education and urban development. Researching onthe modernization process of a certain region in China was both an important partof researching on the modernization process of China and providing a referencefor the others’ modern development of China. This paper mainly discussed themodernization development of Liaoning Province in1916-1931. On the one handLiaoning Province was the first open area in northeast area and under theinteraction of the colonial powers and warlord power, it was representative inChina; on the other hand the modernization development of Liaoning Province in1916-1931built the foundation for mature of Liaoning Province’s modernization.Nowadays academia paid more attention to the researching of LiaoningProvince’s modernization in1916-1931. This paper which was based on theoriginal literature and learned from the results of academia researches analyzedthe modernization of Liaoning Province in1916-1931in a full rang.First, this paper starting from the social profile of Liaoning Province1916ago explained the closed and unenlightened social conditions and the favorableconditions of carrying out modernization that based on extensive collectinghistorical data and analyzing historical facts.Second, this paper analyzes the background of starting modernization ofLiaoning Province from1916in-depth and the reasons how Liaoning Province’s modernization in1916-1931occurred. Foreign imperialist forces and thedomestic warlord made the social situation in Liaoning Province extremelycomplex, but it was in this context the modernization development of theLiaoning that has its own unique characteristics.Third, based on the analyzing the social status and background in LiaoningProvince1916ago, we could conclude that the modernization of LiaoningProvince in the1916-1931have been developed, and made a series of results. Inpolitical respect northeast regional unified under the promotion of theManchurian warlord——Zhang Xueliang; in economic respect the governmentcreated favorable conditions to promote the development of modern agriculture,and railway construction promoted the industrialization process, and marshalingfinancial sector promoted industrial and commercial development. In militaryaspects arms army using advanced weapons and talented person, which makesFengxi army change to modern military. In education aspects, traditionaleducation transformed to modern education. In Urban modernization aspects, itwas a typical development trajectory of modern urban.Finally, on the basis of comprehensive analysis, we could sum up the featureof modernization of Liaoning Province in1916-1931.It developed tenaciously indifficult situation, had strong personal color, had deformity of urban development,and had a great gap between rural and urban modernization process. It was thesefeatures that made the studies of modernization of Liaoning Province in1916-1931valuable, and provided a reference for today’s China socialistmodernization.
