Study Of Mongolian Women Taboo Folk Tales

The thesis, in the research of Mongolian women taboo folk tales, makes a thoroughanalysis of the structure of this kind of stories, organizes the collation type and the taboo subject of stories, and finally discusses the role of the female taboo stories.The thesis consists of four parts:Introduction, Body(Chapterl-3), Conclusion and Bibliography. In the section of introduction, with the brief explanation of the sourceof the term "taboo", the reason and the significance of choosing this topic and methods of study are exp lained.In chapter1, three aspects of women taboo stories areillustrated and analysed in detail, that is the reasons of setting the female forbiddance, the violation of the femaleforbiddance(the compliance of the female forbiddance) and the consequences of violating the female forbiddance.In section one, three reasons of setting forbiddance areexplained, which are esteem, worship and filth; In section two, further analysis of the plot of these folk tales are made by dividing it into two parts which are the violation of the female forbiddance and the compliance of the female forbiddance, according to Vladimir Propp’s exposition of "the violation of forbiddance" in his "31functional items"; In section three, the consequences of violating the forbiddance are discussed in two parts:to punish people prohibited and to keep banned a reward. In chapter2, it composed of two sections. In section one, detailed study is made upon the two special types in Mongolian women taboo folk tales. One is verbal taboo,which means to be silent to avoid superstitious fear and the other is to avoid dirty things. After the interpretation of the connotation and types of characteristics of these stories, in section two, via the analysis of some special motifs such as "Name guess","taboo Nine" and "wolf, it praises the Mongolian women’s excellent ability of language use.In chapter3, it is from four aspects that the role of the female taboo stories are discussed. On one hand, various female folklore taboos and taboo stories play a positive role in people’s social relations and the conservation of nature. On the other hand, what is undeniable is that they have great negative impact on women’s social status and their health both physically and mentally.In the final conclusion, it summerizes the opinion of the full text and draws the conclusion.
