"taboo" is originated from tonga and called "taboo" in English, meaning evasion from sacred or wicked object and is translated as "塔 布" in Chinese. Due to the reasons such as the social customs, belief, in some particular occasions , it is taboo to use certain specified spoken and written language in everyday life. We take this kind of taboo language as taboo words. Taboo words are comparatively involved issue. It is an ordinary language phenomenon and a common cultural appearance as well. It is a multidiscipline subject belonging to the field of cultural linguistics, including lexics, etymology, sementics and rhetoric and involves numerous pertinent subject such as history, folklore and so on. For one thing , these features showed the importance of this research and brought great difficulties on the other hand.This paper summarizes and analyzes the issues concerning taboo words in China .Japan and the South Korea from the aspects of linguistics and culturology . It examines cultural details through introducing the types , ways of expression, untilizing situation of taboo wrods and comparing taboo customs in China, Japan and the South Korea. This paper includes seven chapters. Chapter one is the introduction part, mainly stating the purpose, present situation and method of research. Chapter two explains taboo and taboo words and analyzes the reason of occuring furtherly . The third and fourth chapter classifies the taboo words in China, Japan and the South Kore according to the content. Furtherly, it studies and discusses the expressive forms of the taboo words. The sixth chapter analyzes the distinctions of taboo customs among China, Japan and the South Korea through comparing the causes of happening, objects and forms of expressing of the three countries. The seventh chapter is the conclusion.With the analysis, it is found that the reasons of emergence are largely identical with minor differences, although taboo have dissimilarities, even a world of differences, among the languages of different era.
