Xiao Hong writes novels from a poet’s perspective. As she is a novelist with poet nature. Her fictions are full of poeticized colors with a unique characteristic of having textual subjectivity in narration. Imaginary narration is thus the most typical representative of fictional poeticization.A large number of phenomena on imaginary narration emerge from Xiao Hong’s novels. Such narrations as featured by images are very different from traditional sequencing narrations in many aspects including portrait of characters, conception of storylines, description of the environment, the scene, and the mind, etc.,all of which reflect Xiao Hong’s artistic charms of novelty and uniqueness.The paper theorizes on narratology, and targets Xiao Hong’s fictional creation. The focus is on the phenomenon of imaginary narration as well as its potential aesthetic value hidden in her novels.The whole paper comprises of three parts excluding introduction and conclusion.The first part makes an explanation of how imaginary narration forms a specific shape in Xiao Hong’s novels. The chapter mainly concentrates on textual analysis, empathizing on the analysis of the phenomena on imaginary narration in Xiao Hong’s novels. On the one hand, it is a combination of image and narration, in which the image penetrates into every element of narration and shapes such numerous clues of imaginary narration as imaginary plots, imaginary figures, imaginary scenes, imaginary minds, imaginary places, etc. On the other hand, as an independent element of narration, the image works with narration, making the texts form a style of being imaginary. This contains the cohesive effects the core image has on the fictional theme as well as a push a single image makes on the plot development.The second part makes an illustration of a unique way of generating imaginary narration in Xiao Hong’s novels. The chapter in details explains the core problem of how imaginary narration is generated in fictional texts. Moreover, such generations as repetition, juxtaposition, symbolization, metaphor, etc., are all introduced. It is a try to deepen the analysis of imaginary narration from the level of emotional texts to the level of rational figures of speech, in order to discuss the unique way of generating imaginary narration in Xiao Hong’s novels.The third part illustrates the unique aesthetic value of imaginary narration in Xiao Hong’s novels. The chapter specifically expresses what features of imaginary narration in Xiao Hong’s novels are and how they produce aesthetic values. Besides, it proceeds to reach a higher level of rational analysis of texts, exploring the value of imaginary narration to Xiao Hong’s novels. It is deemed that imaginary narration expands the poetic room and develops thematic implication of fictional texts.
