Production And Expression Of Aesthetic Experience In The Prospective Of The Method Of Observing The Object In Taoism

The Tao is neither remote from human, nor from objects."Observing objects in terms of objective correlatives" is of great significance in Taoism. The author observes the method of "observing objects in terms of objective correlatives" in meditating the Tao, in generating the aesthetic experience and in influencing the spirit of Chinese poetry by contrast with phenomenology.The thesis is divided into four chapters.In the first chapter, the author illustrates the metaphysical thought-"The Tao is not arbitrary but sensible, and the great Tao lies in the dynamic state of "Being and Not-being grow out of one another". The two perspectives should be well-perceived by the meditators of Tao. Therefore,"Only he that rids himself forever of desire can see the Secret Essences; he that has never rid himself of desire can see the Outcomes." was presented in the first chapter of Laozi.From the prospective of phenomenology,"observing objects in terms of objective correlatives" should be viewed as follows:firstly, the original image of all things growing independently on earth should be displayed and nature should be presented in a natural way. Secondly, in order to meditate the Tao, the meditator should get to the selfless states of WuHua through emptying and purifying one’s heart and sitting oblivion.In the second chapter,"observing objects in terms of objective correlatives" is dual reduction of object and oneself from the perspective of Reduction of phenomenology. The reduction of object is to make it return to its natural state, while that of oneself is to remove deceptive and tricky mind which is unrelated to the object, to sublimate oneself, to release oneself and to integrate into the magnificent and changeful nature. Therefore the purposes of "traveling in the initial state of objects","being beneficial to the objects" and "being friendly with the objects" are obtained, and both object and oneself get to the true state. The sympathetic experience of pre-theory, pre-objectification and the pre-predicate is the so-called aesthetic experience in phenomenology. In other words, the aesthetic experience through "observing objects in terms of objective correlatives" is from the process-obtaining the beauty by the image, perceiving the image through sense and acquiring the sense through sight. In the third chapter, the spirit of Chinese poetry within the influence of "observing objects in terms of objective correlatives" is manifested by non-objectified poetic discourse, the apposition of concretization, cavalier perspective and other ways of transmission.The conclusion chapter discusses the significance of "observing objects in terms of objective correlatives" in our Image Age. In the sight of the ecology, we need to respect things as a whole and take good care of this land.
