A Comparative Study Between The Korean TV Drama "Dae Jang Geum" And The Japanese TV Drama "Oshin"

In2005, the Korean TV series Dae Jang Geum was shown in China. Hunan TV is the first TV station put this TV series on show, which got a high audience rating, ranking the first place all over China at the same time interval. Dae Jang Geum was popular in all the age period, and it gained great success in China.The success of Dae Jang Geum has reminded us with another Japanese TV Series Oshin, which was first shown in1984, gained great favor in China with all the people focus on it. And whole country is in an "Oshin Fever"Both two TV shows describe stories that the heroine experienced and suffered all pains and difficulties, with her own outstanding will and wisdom to be successful at last, which are full with encouragement. And both of them are with female characters as heroines, which propagated the positive philosophy of feminine in patriarchal society by building up the female character impressed the Chinese audiences. They are the typical female Inspirational dramas.Dae Jang Geum and Oshin are the representatives of "Korean school" and "Japanese school". They gained great popularity in China of different time period, which aroused the thinking of many scholars.Currently, the research of these two products gained some achievement. These researches are only the separate researches for individual product in a specific aspect or making comparison of one product with other products respectively. But from the view of comparison, make these two comparing with each other directly is the first in this field.I analyzed the accepting attitude and reason of these two TV Series in China, from the views of aesthetics of reception, sociology, feminism. First of all, the paper will compare Dae Jang Geum and Oshin from the view of feminism, to analyze the accept attitude of Chinese audience from the view of "literature therapy"; and then, from the aspects of aesthetics of reception, sociology, to analyze the popular reason of these two in China in details, and express it from social political economic elements and social psychological elements. Meanwhile the paper analyzes the psychological elements and the reasons of different national cultures being accepted under the same language context.
