| This thesis, applying social and historical criticism and psychological method of literature and art, studies Yu Guang-xun, a well-educated young Chinese-Korean writer, and his works. It traces back to unstable periods of1960s and1970s, during which the writer experienced family catastrophe and hardships, analyzes his works written in1980s and1990s according to his real experiences, and further studies a few core tendentious subjects which appear in his works repeatedly.Since the People’s Republic of China was established, various events such as, Anti-rightist Movement, The Cultural Revolution, Settlement in the rural areas did hold up the development of the generation, while to some degree "the Turmoil" did train and temper some of them. Yu Guang-xun’s personal details and literary achievements have justified it. When Anti-rightist Movement started, his father became a rightist, whose family were all forced to move to the countryside and later returned to the city. During the years, the writer experienced sadness, sufferings, unfairness, and resentment which inspired him to make his way to literature and realize his dream. In the meantime, he repaid readers with his works showing the despairing history filled with hardship and emotional scars which the Chinese "Knowledge Youth" had endured just like him.Given Yu Guang-xun’s works, it is obvious that three core tendentious subjects appear repeatedly in his works:the disclosure of emotional scars caused by The Cultural Revolution, reflections on the existence of Chinese "Knowledge Youth", and a denial of overweening "power" of the day. Undoubtedly, Yu Guang-xun’s literary works are the fruits of writer’s own personal experiences. Yu Guang-xun, by means of his works, is not just to console oneself, but to comfort the peers who have suffered the same experiences, having arisen people’s resonance. |
