The status of the ancient city of Jinyang in the Northern Qi period and Eastern Wei makes it a real political, economic, military and cultural center in the late Northern Dynasties. The ancient city of Jinyang attracts the businessmen from the Western Regions with its prominent position, they bring in the priceless treasures, at the same time, they also bring the culture collision and fusion, and leave a rich and colorful silk road remains in the Jinyang city. In recent years, in the region of Taiyuan with the increasing number of archeological findings, it is no doubt that the ancient city of Jinyang works as an important node of Chinese and Western cultural exchange in the late Northern Dynasties. In the first chapter of the article I mainly introduce the historical background of Jinyang and its important status in the Northern Dynasties. In the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the splitting and turbulent times, if wanting to hold Jinyang or have its forces, the ruler often makes use of its geographical advantage and material basis for a better position. Or the West Region will invade the South Central Plains, or direct into coercion, Gyeonggi area, control and subvert the central government dynasty, at last in charge of the central plains. So are the sixteen countries and Zhu Rongshi Eastern Wei, and the establishment of Mr Gao’s Government and sub-capital is also true The general trend of the world is the same:it is the man who masters the whole situation. Jinyang also plays an important role in this period. As the political, economic, military and cultural center of the late Northern Dynasties, the ancient Jinyang is able to play an important role in the Silk Road.In the second chapter I mainly tell the main route----Northern Silk Road in the late Northern Dynasties as well as the ways that the businessmen came to Jinyang through the northern grassland silk road. At that time, because of the prevention of the Western Wei and Northern Zhou, the caravan must bypass their territory, walk through the northern grassland silk road to Jinyang. However, the prairie road has been dominated by Roran, Tuyuhun, Turkish, Persian and other countries, therefore the relations between these countries and the Eastern Wei and the way how Northern Qi, and businessmen use the northern grassland silk road directly affect the trade along the silk road. The third chapter focuses on the he main factors that the foreign cultural element really exists in the Jinyang area through a number of archaeological data and ancient records. In nearly half-a-century archaeological discoveries, in Taiyuan we unearthed19tombs and a large number of exquisite murals and the funerary objects, of which there are many factors embodying the cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. Last September the archaeologists found out the family tomb of Northern Qi Dynasty in Kaihua Village, Jinyuan District,Taiyuan, and now the digging is going on. I believe there will be more and more archaeological data to prove the important position of the ancient city of Jinyang along the Silk Road in the future. The fourth chapter makes a further explanation on the profound influence and the significance of Jinyang as the important node of the Silk Road in the late Northern Dynasties The influence of foreign culture embodies all the aspects of the people’s social life in the late Northern Dynasties, especially in the political, economic, cultural, religious and others. Jinyang, as the important node of the late Northern Dynasties of the Silk Road, not only promotes the economic development, but also promotes the ethnic and cultural exchange and fusion among different nations. At that time Jin Yang Town being advanced and rich, widely accepted, free and open, whether in the moral or in the material it left valuable countless wealth and played a decisive role on the later feudal prime ages such as the Sui and Tang Dynasties. In the summary of this paper, I make a general statement. I hope this paper can offer a little contribution to the later study on the role of Jinyang city on the silk road in the late Northern Dynasties.
