Chopin is one of the most influential composers, pianist of the Romantic period. He is renowned for his music style and idea. Chopin is often called “poet on the piano”. As a representative of the romantic period, he devoted his composition to the piano. Op.22is one of the few music pieces that he created for piano and orchestra. The orchestra part was later replaced by the piano. This article attempts to study the two different versions of Op.22, by comparing the grand score, to study the details and hidden meaning of the piece,and hopefully help some to better play this piece.With China’s reform and opening-up, the understanding and connections between China and Westernmusical culture have become more and more intimate. With the spread of internet access, communicationsbetween the countries have become more convenient and plentiful. Under such general circumstances, theauthor has made use of available resources and consumed a great deal of information on the varioussubjects of music, in order to further her special study. When considering the topic for graduate thesis, afterconsidering the factors of creativity and practicality, based on the author’s personal interest and theguidance of the professor, the author has chosen this topic. It is hoped that through the author’s practicalobservation and summary of information, this article can provide meaning reference for future studentspracticing this piece. This article focuses on Op.22’s two different typical versions, through contrasts andanalysis, to provide an overview of the meaning and acoustic differences that these two versions bring.This article has three chapters. After introducing Chopin and Op.22, there is a comparative study of the different notations of the piece, mostly by picking out the significant, unique and meaningful parts for analysis.
