Study on the mental process of translation is an indispensable part of the wholetranslation study, but it has always been a weak point of the whole subject. With the rise anddevelopment of cognitive linguistics, cognitive psychology, the study on cognitivepsychology of the translator has gradually attracted the attention of scholars from home andabroad. But for a long-term, researches on the creator and the translator are not very wide anddeep. This paper attempts to explore the mental process of translation of so-called “blackbox” from the perspective of cognitive psychology and to reconfirm the dominant position ofthe translator in the whole translation process through description of the whole mental processof translation. With the information processing theory in cognitive linguistics as the researchperspective and the cognitive process of the translator as the object of study, combined withcognitive psychology, this paper focuses its study on memory, language comprehension,language production and the formation process in the mental process of translation to explorethe inner process.
