Lolita is a novel that embodies profound cultural connotation and delicate language glamour. The frequent use of the defamiliarization, which is the highlight of the work, adds unique artistic effect and aesthetics perception into it. Therefore, it is quite crucial to represent the devices of defamiliarization in the translation in order to convey efficiently its aesthetics effect and artistic enchantment. But the representation of the defamiliarization to a completely degree still remains a difficulty due to the differences existed in the language and culture between China and the west. In the recent20years, there are about ten papers based on the translation of Lolita at home and nearly every paper adopts barely one translation theory. So the author tries to combine the theory of defamiliarization in the field of literature and art and the theory of translation aesthetics in the field of literary translation to analyze the work, which is comparatively overall and shows some novelty in a certain degree. In this paper, Yu Xiaodan’s version of Lolita is chosen, which is the most popular edition around the country, and a great many typical examples are analyzed from the perspective of translation aesthetics to discuss the representation of defamiliarization. In the part of defamiliarization, the author concludes three major techniques of defamiliarization from the progammatic essay Art as Technique:handicap of poetic language, creative distortion and delay of configuration. These three techniques are adoptd to distinguish the devices of defamiliarization in the original work and to analyze whether such device is represented in the version. In addition, since defamiliarization itself could be considered as a type of presentation of aesthetics in the form, the author would adopt the theory of translation aesthetics to analyze the effects of the representation of defamiliarization. As for this part, the author would appreciate the version from two levels of translation aesthetics:formal system and non-formal system. The former one contains three aspects:sound, diction and syntax while the latter involves the aspect of image. The study of this paper indicates that it is very significant and constructive to introduce translation aesthetics into the field of literary translation. Translation aesthetics can be considered as the criterion and basis of translation and adopted to judge whether the information of aesthetics in the original is represented in the version or not.
