The literary translation plays a decisive role in the translation field. Due to itsunique aesthetic art, more and more scholars commit to studying it diligently. Theresearch object of literary translation is the literary work, Russian formalists believethat the difference between literary works and non-literary works lies in the essence ofliterature-literariness, namely, what makes a given work a literary one.Defamiliarization device is the main manifestation of literariness, which contributes tothe realization of literariness. The successful translation relies on the utmostrepresentation of defamiliarization in the original, which should be paid adequateattention.Large numbers of defamiliarization devices exist in the literary works, whichenhance the artistic effect greatly. The thesis will take Nabokov’s Lolita as the casestudy, the defamiliarization devices in the original as the research object, and attempt toanalyze the representation of defamiliarization under the guidance of analogicaltranslation. Through the comparative study of the three Chinese versions, the thesisproves the advantages of analogical translation in the representation of defamiliarizationin the original.According to the different linguistic levels, the thesis attempts to study therepresentation of defamiliarization from the phonological, lexical, syntactic and textuallevel. The diversity of defamiliarization devices in Lolita is embodied abundantly in thefour levels. The phonological level includes alliteration and end rhyme; the lexical levelincludes the oxymoron, nonce word, metaphor and foreign word; the syntactic levelincludes juxtaposition and elongation of sentence components; textual level includesmixture of register, flashback and textual parallelism. The defamiliarization devicespromote the literariness and should be retained in the target at utmost. The thesis attempts to make a comparative research of the three Chinese versionson the representation of defamiliarization in Lolita, the significance lies in thefollowing two aspects: one is to present the advantages of analogical translation in the representation of defamiliarization; on the other hand, it aims at provoking moreattention to the defamiliarization in literary translation and translation strategy. Everytranslation strategy is relatively perfect instead of absolute perfect, the thesis hopes tostimulate more scholars to join in the discussion of literary translation strategy and todevote to the study of more constructive translation strategy.
