| It is no doubt that the essay creation of playwrights is a special existence in the literary world. As three essayists who transferred from creation of drama to that of essay in new era, Huang Zongjiang, Sha Yexin and Wei Minglun are worth mentioning in modern Chinese literary world. They have real temperament, real personality and real language, and they introduced different emotions and vicissitudes of life from the stage into the writing in a unique literary form of giving and being responsible. They three playwrights uplifted the spirit of rational criticism, emphasized on folk meaning and focused on the culture of the bottom of the society, choosing diversified materials and unique perspectives with philosophic flavor and poetic language in their writing, which has a far-reaching influence on the modern essay field.This thesis is based on their published paper works, and the author scientifically analyzes the value of their works by reading and understanding the essays. To be specific, this thesis includes three parts. The first part is the introduction which briefly introduces the situations about the playwrights’ essay writing and the analysis of related researches in this field. The second part is the body which comprises four chapters. Chapter1summarizes the development of essay and the prosperous background of ideology and culture as well as the breakthrough of essay in the new era; besides, it discusses the conditions of essay writing in the new era, and analyzes the characteristics of each playwright and the intertextuality of drama creation and essay writing in order to highlight artistic critique; Chapter2takes their family, education background and social experience into consideration to analyze personality and ideas on essay, with which to analyze the reason why they engaged themselves in the field of essay; Chapter3talks about the theme and topic of their works which can be classified into three types, namely, realistic criticism, historical criticism and cultural criticism; Chapter4is about the three playwright writing methods. It begins from two aspects, first, the exploration and innovation of the genre of essay, and second is the perfect combination of dramatic scene and language. The last part is the conclusion. In this part, the author compares the similarities and differences of their writing perspectives, manifestation modes, writing styles and writing methods. Furthermore, the author intends to outstand the unique value of their works and the enlightenment and influence for modern essay writing. |
