Research On Pottery Pomegranate Lines

Pomegranate pattern is one of the general themes of Chinese ancientceramic decoration. It has a long history and profound cultural background.As one of the symbols of Chinese traditional auspicious culture, it containsrich cultural connotations. Pomegranate pattern has been evolving during itsorigin, development and flourishing periods. This paper deals with theapplication of the pomegranate decoration form to the ceramics indifferent periods, and it also illustrates the historical evolvement of thepomegranate pattern. With the method of diachronic and synchronic study,this paper analyses the spatial structure of pomegranate pattern in itsstructure, combination and color arrangement. Meanwhile, it explores theprofound connotation of the symbol in Chinese philosophy, culture andbelief. With that, it provides the theoretical support for the inheritance anddevelopment of Chinese culture of ceramics and the innovation of Chineseceramic art.
