Korean diplomatic envoys that sended to Japan at17th and18th centuries were the historic artifacts on the basis of the Korea in order to maintain good-neighborly and friendly relations with Japan. After the Japanese Invasion of1592, the Joseon and the Tokugawa Shogunate negotiated several times and resumed the diplomatic ralations. During this period, as a symbol of friendship, Joseon began to send the diplomatic envoys to Japan. Gifted with the Ming dynasty’s worship consciousness, and under the threat of the Qing Dynasty, the Joseon was bound to have good negotiations with Japan. Therefore, for the purpose of politics and diplomacy, the diplomatic envoys took a sea-voyage eastward to Japan, for the mission of cultural exchange, left the rows.This paper mainly studies the17th and18th century, the Japanese clothes evaluation that in the eyes of the Korean diplomatic envoys’s as the center, and pay attention to the environment of the the Korean diplomatic envoys, the collective imagination of society that required and the image of the Japanese. In general, it can be divided into three parts. First, inspect the general situation of the line of the the Korean diplomatic envoys. Then, inspect the image of Japanese costumes at17th and18th centuries. At last, inspect the Japanese perspective of the the Korean diplomatic envoys through the clothing. The part of clothing image are specific as follows:Firstly, inspect from three aspects such as a mix of Japanese costumes, brutal Japanese man costumes, coquettish Japanese women dress. The studies have found that the Joseon Society’s view between "Hwa" and "Yi" and the Confucianist Moral Outlook have influence on the Korean diplomatic envoys that make them exclude Japanese costume culture. Moreover, on the investigation to the Korean diplomatic envoys described Japanese costumes found that North Korean envoys deny Japanese costumes and makes the image appeared in Japan tend to be negative. This is mainly because the Japanese clothing system does not conform to the scope of Korean diplomatic envoys’ accepted ideas.Secondly, inspect from Japanese costumes and gorgeous boy clothes that make no distinctions between the high and the low. The study found that the Korean diplomatic envoys are to confirm the Japanese costumes makes all equal on the surface and praised the boy clothes’s gorgeous dressing beauty, but still can’t escape the bondage of "Hwa-i-kwan", and is still limited to native Korean cultural reality. So, as a whole, the Japanese image in the eyes of the Korean diplomatic envoys have created tend to be more positive, but still negative image in the majority.
