At the beginning of the twentieth century, the progressive movement in social fieldand the antitrust movement in financial field have an important influence on Americanhistory. The change of presidents’ power is one of the performances to political system.This article will discuss on the presidents’ power of economic intervention, the internalcontacts between antitrust movement and the presidents’ power of economic intervention,the conditions provided by progressive movement for presidents’ expansive power ofeconomic intervention, and the historical influences and actual significances of thepresidents’ power of economic intervention. I hope that I could analysis these problemsand answer them.This article is divided into three parts: The first part is introduction, it mainlyintroduces the origin and significance of thesis, the research conditions and results ofinterrelated thesis among the foreign and domestic scholars, research ideas and structureof the paper, defined the related concepts of this paper finally.The second is the mainly three chapter text. The first chapter is about thebackground introduction. It includes the origin and historical overview of the antitrustmovement. It also relates to the formation and growth of trust organization, the historicalbackground of progressive movement, the development context and the new changes ofantitrust movement on American history. The antitrust movement of the United Statesoriginated in the middle of nineteenth century and took shape in the late of nineteenthcentury. It goes through embryonic stage, established stage and develop-growth stage ingeneral. The main body of the second part includes the second chapter and the thirdchapter. This part mainly elaborates the relationship between antitrust movement and theexpanding of presidents’ power of economic intervention, the characteristics andinfluences of the presidents’ power. The second chapter introduces that how thepresidents intervene in economy by influencing the legislation, improving the department,and taking measures directly. The third chapter points at that the expanding of thepresident of the United States economic intervention right has historical influences onthree aspects. They are the breakthrough of framework for president’s right in economic field, the emergence of supreme administration principle in the separation of powerssystem and the positive impact on the establishment of great power status for Americalater.The third part is the conclusion, it is the refining and the sublimation of the full text.Analyzing and forecasting the power of American president in the future, the articleconcludes that the expanding of American presidents’ power is the inevitable result of theevolution for American politics, economy and society. It doesn’t connect with thepersonal motivation. If the government doesn’t stop intervening the economy and thesociety in the monopoly capitalism condition, the expanding trend of Americanpresidents’ power would not truly turn round. And the expanding trend of presidents’power is conformed to the historical trend. It has some positive significance andimportant historical effect.
