Cooperative principles was initially proposed by American linguist H. P. Gricein1967, the theory believes that: Listeners and speakers must speak cooperativelyand mutually accept one another to be understood in a particular way. The cooperativeprinciple describes how effective communication in conversation is achieved incommon social situations. The cooperative principle can be divided into four maxims, called the Gricean maxims, describing specific rational principles observed by peoplewho obey the cooperative principle; these principles enable effective communication.Grice proposed four conversational maxims that arise from the pragmatics of naturallanguage: maxim of quantity; maxim of quality; maxim of relation; maxim of mannerThe Gricean Maxims are a way to explain the link between utterances and what isunderstood from them.Since the advent of Grice " conversational implicature ", Chinese scholars haveconducted extensive research on this theory, and put forward many newconversational implicature theory framework, greatly enriched the theory content, butalso expand the scope of application of theory.Interpretation, is an advanced form of human communication, plays an importantrole in the communication between people from different country with differentlanguage and cultural backgrounds, as a form of verbal communication, it also cananalyzed from the view of Grice "s theory of conversational implicature and hiscooperative principle, if the Grice ’s theory of conversational implicature can beapplied to interpreting practice, it will undoubtedly guide the interpreting practice,The third chapter makes an analysis on the report in terms of CP and theviolation of CP, and then proposes some useful interpreting tactics,This thesis aims to study the application of cooperative principle in conferenceinterpreting by analyzing Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi reporters. The thesisconsists of three chapters The first chapter introduces the Grice’s cooperative principleand its four maxims, namely "the principle of quantity"(Maxim of quantity),"theprinciple of quality"(Maxim of quality),"standards"(Maxim of relation) and itsguidance for interpreting practice. The second chapter of this thesis makes a general Finally the thesis comes to the conclusion that: Grice’s cooperative principle hasimportant guiding significance in interpreting practice, an interpreter should becombined take into account their surrounding conditions and environment and choosedifferent coping skills accordingly to ensure the smooth completion of interpretation.
