Jinzhong and Jinbei are two important areas in Shanxi province, there are similar folk-custom and culture in these two areas because of close geographical relationship. Zhonglu opera and Beilu opera are the representative of similar culture.Bangzi style opera, which belongs to Zhoonglu opera and Beilu opera, is an important opera style. Shanxi province is a sea of folk drama, there are all more than fifty kinds of opera styles, which mainly including Puzhou bangzi opera, Zhonglu bangzi opera, Beilu bangzi opera, and Shangdang bangzi opera. Zhonglu opera and Beilu opera are the representative, they have close relationship. Recently, government enhances the working to protect intangible cultural heritage, and the voice of protecting traditional and regional culture is more and more loud. Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera not only have long history, but also load the traditional culture of Shanxi province. It is very useful to compare Zhoonglu opera and Beilu opera for finding more meanings about Shanxi culture.The comprehensiveness about literature, music and dance is the biggest charm of opera. Music is an important part. Opera music not only represents the regional feature, but also includes people’s wisdom. Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera are based on folk culture, and have distinct local characteristics, their music are the main representative of local culture. There are similar folk-custom and culture in these two areas because of close geographical relationship. So they have most similarity.The meaning of word "opera" represents the meaning of music. The existence of difference can lead us to find their own characteristic and handle their styles.The purpose of this paper is to compare the art feature, especially music feature of Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera, and to research their form, which aims to mix the analyses about music, literature and social aspect. After comparing, we can find the similarity and difference of them, and can offer some theory base about folk opera. There are four parts in this paper; chapter1and chapter2introduce the history, singing style, tune music of Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera.; Chapter3compares the singing music, tune and other sing technical of Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera by examples; Chapter4compares the instrument and accompaniment music of Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera and research their music style.Although Beilu bangzi opera is formed before Zhonglu bangzi opera in Shanxi province and to be a big opera. In the growing process, Zhonglu bangzi opera imitate more from Beilu bangzi opera, and surpass it, later is called "Jin opera" which represents Shanxi art opera. While Beilu bangzi opera declined. Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera have more similarity, but they all have kept their art characteristics instead of missing it. Researching their features and regular patterns, handling the relationship between inheriting and developing, have practical meaning and research value to protect Shanxi’s intangible cultural heritage.Zhonglu bangzi opera and Beilu bangzi opera have more similarity in their musical instrument, but their music styles are different. So, there are more meanings to compare these two different music and singing styles.
