"Nature", which means being spontaneous, was regarded as a potential theory system of Chinese ancient literary theory. As Mr. Cai Zhongxiang said,"Beauty is from Nature", referring to that the beauty should be presented naturally rather than affectedly, is an eternal aesthetic proposition. During the whole history of Chinese literary and artistic aesthetics,"Nature" exited throughout the process of the development of literature and art as a literary aesthetic ideal. The ideal of "Nature" revealed the variation characteristics which from outside tend to be inside, from the whole to the part, from the theory based on concrete objects to the idealism, during the process of transmutation. At the same time,"Nature", also as a sort of deep psychological form of Chinese nation, has been closely interrelated to the course of the whole nation’s development. The aesthetic mental attitude of "Nature" derived from the way people observed and fell the outside world, intuitionally and directly. It finds expression in a pursuit of liberty in spirit and a longing for natural landscapes in form. As a literary aesthetic ideal, sense of "Nature" brings people unique aesthetic experience by its rich connotation and presents two different types of realm,"instinct naturally" and "artistic conception naturally", during literary writings. However, it seems that there is no future for the ideal of "Nature" due to the development of the times. Will the ideal be possible to be recovered through our efforts?...
