Risk perception is the subjective judgment that people make about the characteristics and severity of arisk. It is an important standard to measure psychological panic. At present, China is in the period of timesynchronization between restructuring and institutional transition. The emphasis of social economyreformation is changing from urban to rural areas. There will be huge changes in production, industrialstructure and life outlook of China’s rural areas. In this social background, this study takes the centralplains rural residents as the research object. Though the semi-structured deep interviews of usingqualitative research methods to collect rural residents live and work scenarios for risk perception. Thenbased on the interviews and literature we compile rural residents risk perception qurestionnaire, and usingfactor analysis method of quantitatively analyse the rura residents risk perception’s structure. Then, thispaper discusses the risk perception’s demography variable differences, and investigates the riskperception’s intermediary function between social support and life satisfaction, as well as coping process’sregulatory role between risk perception and life satisfaction. Finally we get the following conclusion:(1) Based on the interviews and literature compilation this study developed the rural residents riskperception questionnaire. The factor analysis showed that the rural residents’ risk perception structure iscomposed of three factors. They are the possibility of risk, the controllability of risk and the anxiety of risk.Three factors explained risk perception variance53.572%of the total variance. The reliability and validityof the questionnaire are excellent. The questionnaire has certain applicability.(2)The risk perception of rural residents exists significant differences in the marital status, educationlevel, employment, income level. But it is not apparently in other demographics.(3) The risk perception plays a part of the intermediary role between social support and lifesatisfaction.(4) The coping process to deal with the risk perception and life satisfaction relationship plays aregulatory role. The positive coping process weaken the relationship between risk perception and lifesatisfaction’s. The negative coping process enhance the relationship between risk perception and lifesatisfaction.
