Trombone Performance And Emotional Expression

This dissertation is primarily focus on the analysis of the playing of difficulty parts in trombone orchestra excerpts, this dissertation attempts to explore the color variation of the sound and the style of trombone playing. Therefore, a discussion is carried out in respect of the player’s ability to present the feelings and styles of various types of music as well as the pursuing of the performance as a professional musician.In another word, it is discussed that, when a player of brass instrument is playing an orchestra excerpts, which aspects of practice should the player pay considerable attention besides the enhancement of his performance skill. In order to achieve the aforementioned target, the trombone parts of Schumann’s symphony no.3"Rhenish" and Mahler’s symphony no.3are analyzed as examples in this research. Moreover, it is hoped that some enlightenment will be brought to the players of trombone for deeper understanding of the play of orchestra excerpts.
