Music form created by composer Alexander Scriabin,’Poem’ is a continuance of ’Symphonie Poem’, which is characterized as single movement program music originated by Franz Liszt during the mid19th century. Among Scriabin’s’Poem’ repertoire, the piece Op.32has its significance because of1) the first attempt of’Poem’and2) the miniature of his identified’mystic chord’considerably applied in his late composition. By this reason, the Op.32is recognized as the beginning of his remarkable harmony style in the late period. It also plays the role as a connection in his piano music composition, displaying the feature of elegance and impetuosity. Beside, the traits of Scriabin’s composition, sentiment, dynamism and strength have been revealed by this work as well.This study is aiming to expose the performance essentials via analysis as follows. First, to understand the context of Op.32the analysis will be given, including music structure, harmony, tonality, polyphonic skills (i.e. polyphony, poly-rhythm and special rhythmic form) and texture. Also, the comparison with late ’Poem’ works will be discovered by the similarities and differences. Second, to pinpoint the work from a performance perspective, the analysis will focus on dealing with the relationships between1) the features of key touching and different parts within a polyphony structure,2) the harmony and the line of polyphony,3) the dynamism and strength and4) the application of pedal and the read of accent and ornament.By the research, the author has got more cognition for’Poem’music form and the piece Op.32and proposes it will help the performer to grasp the style of Scriabin’s late pieces and to find more contents in Scriabin’s Pieces.
