Semantic change of verb is a hot spot of verb studying all the time. In Chineselanguage, there are some hands action verbs, which can produce oral area meaningand even speech meaning. The meaning of those verbs is turn from concrete toabstract, and the semantic change paths are very clean. From the first chapter to the fifth chapter, the author focuses on the diachronicstudying of many hands action verbs which have produced oral area meaning, andsum up those verbs’ semantic change paths from hands action meaning to oral areameaning. Now, the verbs’ semantic change paths from hands action meaning to oralarea meaning were divided into five: first, hands action verbs'oral area verbs(without speech meaning)'oral area verbs(with speech meaning)'speech actverb; second, hands action verbs'oral area verb(swith speech meaning)'speech actverb;third, hands action verbs'speech act verb;fourth, hands action verbs'oralarea verbs(without speech meaning)'oral area verbs(with speech meaning);fifth, hands action verbs'oral area verbs(without speech meaning). During the process ofthe verbs’ semantic change from hands action meaning to oral area meaning, themeaning of hands action is gradually develope into abstract, produces oral areameaning and even speech meaning. At the same time, the objects of those verbs alsoturn from concrete to abstract, and including not only material object, but oral area、thought、the speech noun etc.In the sixth chapter, the author explains the diachronic semantic change fromhands action meaning to oral area meaning, based on the theories related to cognitivelinguistics. Metaphor is the key that causes the verbs’ semantic change paths fromhands action meaning to oral area meaning. When some hands action verbs own thetwo important elements at the same time, semantic confliction and similarity, themetaphor will work and make those verbs produce speech meaning, and then themeaning of those verbs is extended to speech acts. When some hands action verbswhich have produced speech meaning can show speech meaning independently andnot need to depend on the speech nouns or other speech act verbs any more, we cansure that those verbs are speech acts verbs at that time. The research method in this paper is systematic analogy analysis;Explaining the diachronic semantic change from hands action meaning to oral areameaning, based on the cognitive linguistics theories and metaphor. These are innovation in the paper. I hope the research result can produce a little enlightenmentfor semantic change research.
