An Exegetic Study On Yu Xingwu’s A New License For The Book Of Odes By Zeluoju

YU Xingwu is a famous paleographer and artifacts of China, who dedicated hiswhole life to study Chinese paleography and the ancient classic. Among which hisachievements on checking and interpreting Chinese paleography is particularlyprominent, and he is the representative of the Xin Zheng Exegetic School in the20thcentury.A new license for the Book of Odes by Zeluoju is Mr. YU Xingwu’s work which appliesXin Zheng to check and interpret the Book of Odes. It is Mr Yu’s achievement by usingancient writing and the documents of underground excavation to edit and exegesis theBook of Odes. Most of the discourse full of argument and motivation. It has adequatecreative opinion on exegesis the Book of Odes, and some exegetic regulations restorethe original idea of the Book of Odes, which opens a new route for studying poetics. Inthis paper, base on referencing the research methods and achievements of predecessors,author comprehensively, systematically and thoroughly research A new license for the Bookof Odes by Zeluoju, summarize the gains and losses of its exegesis, in order to explore itscontribution to exegetical studies of the book of Odes.This paper is divided into four parts. Part one introduce the background of thisthesis, the writer and the work of A new license for the Book of Odes by Zeluoju, as well asits present study status, research value and meaning. Part two analyze A new license for theBook of Odes by Zeluoju ’s continuation and further development of the Book of Odes’s oldannotation. It analyze from three aspects, refuting previous wrong annotation, creatingnew opinion; disambiguating the doubts of predecessors, proclaiming its deep meaning;explaining the previous comments, supplementing and correcting the read-made theory.Part three research the content, methods and features of exegesis on A new license for theBook of Odes by Zeluoju, the content of this book are explaining the meaning of words,authenticating and correcting the meanings of ancient material, emendating characters;the methods are explaining the meaning of words by their shape, voice and comparation;one exegesic feature of this book is the development on material, the other one is buildthe Xin Zheng Exegetic School whose representation is YU Xingwu. Part four discussthe insufficient of this book on exegesis，one is lack of evidence, the other one is part ofthe conclusion is questionable.
