Through the lens of European music, the author will explore the internal relation and distinction between romantic music and literature, to find the romantic literary trend of horizon, the comparability between music and literature, and to compare the existing value in this research, etc. The aesthetic complex of romantic music and literature is presented in a variety of manners. Some even contradicts each other in terms of ideologies. Under historical and cultural circumstances, the coexistence of music and literature represents the periodic development phenomenon. It directly reflects the big leap of aesthetic request in the burgeoning Capital society.This thesis consists of three parts, preface, content and conclusion. The content is divided into three chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of background of the European romantic literature trend in the19th century and the development of music and literature in that period. The second chapter focuses on comparing, contrasting and analyzing media, perception, subject, presentation and the aesthetic value, and the significance of music and literature in this era. The third chapter concentrates on how the combination of music and literature generates artistic coexistence and accelerates the societal development. This thesis aims to present the value of comparing music and literature so as to provide a more solid theory for the coexistence and development of music and literature.
