A Memetics Study On The Generative Mechanism And Evolution Of Network Violent Language Varieties In Network Communication

Network language has always been the study object by linguistic researchers. Networklanguage has been accepted by the public as the social network service websites developrapidly. Therefore, network languages emerge endlessly including some new varieties ofnetwork violent language. For instance,尼玛,坑爹,我勒个去,喵了个咪,魂淡,蒜你狠inChinese. Those network violent language varieties have been new structures and forms inphonograms, abbreviations, blending, and coinage instead of previous violent language.The network violent language varieties have been widely used in the network communitiesbecause they are humorous, vivid and euphemistic.Studies on network language have been made by lots of scholars both at home andaboard. For example, He Ziran(2005) analyzed the method of language meme replicationand transmission. Li Xianlin (2010) studied the generative mechanism of network violentlanguage from the angle of synchronic level and explained the disadvantages of networkviolent languages. However, most studies focus on the static description from thesynchronic views, but few of them studies from the diachronic point of view. What is more,studies on the network violent language varieties mainly focus on the regulations on thenew varieties. So far, few studies have been undertaken on the generative mechanism andevolution research into the network violent language varieties.This thesis, by analyzing the network violent language varieties in networkcommunication community, discussed the generative mechanism and evolution of thenetwork violent language varieties, which can make some contributions to the study of thenetwork language development for the linguists and communication scholars. All the newfindings and results are listed as follows:Firstly, those network violent language varieties have been new structures and formsin phonograms, abbreviations, blending, coinage instead of previous violent language.Those varieties avoid the insulting mood successfully with the euphemistic expression which decreases the violent morphemes during the network communication.Secondly, the network violent language varieties have been widely used in thenetwork communities because they are euphemistic, vivid and humorous.Thirdly, apart from the memetic affection on the varieties of network violentlanguages, there are factors of communication efficiency and communication psychology.Netizens(network citizens) use varieties to save the communication time.Fourthly, the varieties of network violent language release the inside emotions withoutinsulting sayings. The varieties of network violent language, which are mostly pet phrasesand joke words, have already evolved into mood particles to express slight anger emotionseuphemistically.People should hold the permissive attitude towards the network violent languagevarieties and respect the meme evolution of language. Those implications can predict theevolution trend of the network language and reduce the misunderstandings of the networkviolent language varieties in network communities.
