Thestory of pipa is a classic Chinese opera masterpiece, which has been widely sungsince the advent of its popularity. After Kunqu opera been born, The story of pipahas been regarded by Wei Liangfu as the repertoire which must be learnt by the newKunqu learners. The performance of the highlights fromoperas which occupy a large proportion of the The story of pipa opera, to someextent, witnessed the history of Kunqu’s development, which can be called amicrocosm of the history of the Kunqu’s development.This article is divided into three chapters and discussed from following threeaspects respectively: a brief history of The story of pipa performances, the art ofhighlights from operas of The story of pipa and the evolution of the highlights fromoperas of The story of pipa since Qian Jia. The first chapter snoops the situation ofthe performance in the time mainly from the literati poetry, reviews and essays, andinvestigates the highlights of The story of pipa (singles divertimento) which includedin each anthology from the point of view of the drama anthology. At last the chaptermakes a summary about the collection rules and spreading situation of each electionin the Ming and Qing dynasties. The second chapter is mainly concentrated on thecontext, type of roles and Aspect. As to the context, it mainly studies the particularityof the dramatic circumstances as well as the Potential dramatic of the highlights ofoperas. Type of roles mainly discusses the set of roles, evolution and the reasons ofthe major roles in “Pipa” opera. Aspect analyses and studies the aspects of thehighlights from operas of The story of pipa from performing style. In the third chapter, taking “Shuguan” as an example, the paper makes comparison between “Kun Yifigure spectrum”(which is possessed in the Shanghai Library) and performance onthe today’s stage from artists, lyrics, clothes and posture, and makes analysis on theevolution and variation of the highlights from the srory of Pipa.
